POND SEALING
Pond Doctors’ DB-100 (liquid) and DB-200 (granulated)
pond sealant is a long chained molecular structure that is electrically charged. Our
pond sealant is a substance that, when introduced to water, expands to approximately 500 times its initial size. Due to its minute electrical charge and natural agglomorating affect it attracts suspended particulate material in the water and eventually sinks throughout the pond. As it sinks it is drawn into leaks by the drainage suction and there continues to swell, gradually plugging the small leaks in the pond. It works very much like “stop leak” for a car radiator.
It is possible that it will take more than one application of our liquid Pond Sealer/Water Clarifier to be most effective. We applied it to our pond three times to get the best result. This product works on small leaks, not large holes and will not work for rubber liners. It’s secondary function, attracting suspended particulate, actually improves water clarity. Our Pond Sealers are not toxic and do not harm pets, fish or plants.

We find that raising fish in ponds, in which our Pond Sealers have been applied, works fine. Fish grow rapidly in these ponds, with the use of fish food high in protein. Our customers report that our liquid Pond Sealer/Water Clarifier has increased the clarity of their ponds’ water while remedying leakage problems. We have been personally very pleased with the results we have obtained in our own ponds.
We recommend application of liquid pond sealant, DB-100, in existing ponds for improved water clarity and stopping small leaks.
  When
constructing new ponds, or re-sealing drained ponds, we recommend that you
spread dry pond sealant, DB-200, on top of the final graded dirt and then drive over the
pond sealant with smooth-roller-type construction equipment. (We do NOT recommend “sheep’s foot” type rollers.) Use (4) 6-gallon pails of DB-200 per acre.
For marginal soils (sandy or rocky) requiring a clay lining to be imported, we recommend first applying DB-200 to the shaped soil, then 8 inches of clay, with another DB-200 application on top. This helps to seal the pond from the outset. DB-200 is NOT for use with ponds that have water in them.
The degree of effectiveness in regard to sealing a pond varies from application
to application due to soil structure, whereas the clarification function is
rather uniform. If you have questions about your soil’s structure, why not take
advantage of PondDoctor’s decades of experience before you begin digging a new
pond or draining an existing one?
